The Colonidae are small beetles of oval shape with a distinctive 4-membered antennal club. They are of virtually global distribution. The family comprises only one genus Colon with approx. 150 species worldwide. A number of species exhibits characteristic spined or toothed hind femora. Little is known about the lifestyle of the species. It is believed, that they feed on subterranean fungi. |
