I've just uploaded the promised major update of kerbtier.de. Besides more than 150 new species from many different families, I also worked on the architecture of kerbtier.de. The new "brain" is now a SQL database, all queries are done in Perl. The inclusion into the pages is done with SSI. From now on, the species labels are no longer graphics, but text and can be searched. The SQL database also allows a targeted search and compilation of species, but please be patient for some while, I'm working on it ;-). I wish all visitors of kerbtier.de a pleasant stay on my site!

Another tiny update in the section variability of elytral color patterns in Coccinellidae with photos of Ingrid Altmann and Kirsten Eta (thanks!). A major update of the main gallery is under planning, but has to wait, until the "open season" is finished.

Arp Kruithof has contributed lots of new photos for the section variability of elytral color patterns in Coccinellidae, which I've just finished uploading. Especially the section on Harmonia axyridis is meanwhile pretty nice. Thanks, Arp!

Starting today, I've kicked off a new topic: Variability of elytral color patterns in Coccinellidae. On this page, I've started to collect photos of various coccinellid species with differing elytral color patterns. I hope that this collection also of less common variants supports the user her/his own determination efforts. In this regard, I'd like to call for your contribution: If you've made good photos (dorsal view) of coccinellids with interesting elytral color patterns not yet found on this page, please don't hesitate to submit them via email. I'll put them on the page, of course you will be cited as the author of the respective photo(s).
