On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

LG Gerwin
Species, family:
Prosternon tessellatum

Comment: Hallo Gerwin, bestätigt als Prosternon tessellatum. Europa, Asien und Nordamerika. Planar bis subalpin. Larve in den Stubben von Nadelhölzern. LG, Christoph

Where do I have to look for to compare the 3 simular species ?
photo : 25/04/2014 Hasselt, Belgium

Species, family:
Bembidion tetragrammum
Carabidae
Comment: Hi verstraeten, you're right in your assumption: This is Bembidion tetragrammum. Please compare the three similar species here. The pronotum is narrower in B. tetragrammum and the anterior yellow marks on the elytra are more elongate. Color of the antennae also differs. Best regards, Christoph

Request: found on floor in 2nd floor flat in Gstadt am Chiemsee (83257), Baveria, Germany, 25,04,2014
Species, family:
cf. Platydracus fulvipes
Staphylinidae
Comment: Hi Anke, in this case I can only guess. With all due respect - the photos are awful. The specimen is certainly a representative of the rove beetles (family Staphylinidae). The wedge-shape head suggests genus Platydracus. Together with the red legs and the dark elytra it might be Platydracus fulvipes. But this is just guesswork as I mentioned. Best regards, Christoph

Species, family:
Trox perlatus
Trogidae

In Mitteleuropa weit verbreitet, an offenen, sandigen Feuchtstellen meist häufig.

LG, Christoph
