View answered requests for beetle ID
|
On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

2-3mm - Pselaphortynchites longiceps?
Species, family:
cf. Caenorhinus sp.
Rhynchitidae
Comment: Hi Lucgast, I would rather think this is a representative of genus Caenorhinus. But in this family I need higher photo resolution plus photos from different angles, including dorsal view. Best regards, Christoph

Could this be a Cassadi bergeali? Luc
Species, family:
Cassida vibex/bergeali
Chrysomelidae
Comment: Hi Luc, there are two possible species, C. vibex and C. bergeali. By photo they can't be distinguished. They have different host plants (C. vibex on Carduus and Cirsium, C. bergeali on Centaurea). For determination, the aedoeagus of the male should be inspected. Regards, Christoph

Request: Location: Portugal
Species, family:
Enicopus sp.

Comment: Hi valterj, not absolutely for sure, because the angle of which the photo is taken gives a funny view, but I guess it is genus Enicopus. There is a number of species occuring in Portugal. Best regards, Klaas

Request: Agonum lugens ?
photo : Rochefort, Belgium
mixed coniferous and deciduous forest
Species, family:
Agonum sp.
Carabidae
Comment: Hi verstraeten, genus Agonum is right. But we don't get down on species level. The black Agonum are very difficult and most of them can't be identified by photo. What I can tell is, that it is not A. lugens. Best regards, Klaas

Species, family:

Chrysomelidae
