On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Comment: Hallo Ulrike, herzlich willkommen auf kerbtier.de! Das ist Xylodrepa quadrimaculata (inzwischen Dendroxena quadrimaculata). Die Art gehört zu den Aaskäfern, teilt aber nicht das nekrophage Verhalten der meisten Familienvertreter, sondern ist ein Raupenjäger. Man findet die Tiere daher auf Sträuchern und Bäumen, wo sie ihrer Beute nachstellen. Eurytop, in Laub- und Mischwäldern (vor allem Eiche). In tiefen Lagen, meidet Gebirge und reine Nadelwälder. In ganz Europa ohne den hohen Norden, häufig. LG, Christoph
