On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Comment: Hallo Hexter, das ist entweder Leiopus nebulosus oder linnei. Die letztgenannte Art wurde vor wenigen Jahren von nebulosus abgetrennt und die beiden sind leider nicht am Foto zu unterscheiden. Das geht nur noch übers Genital. Ein total schöner Käfer, schade, dass der nicht zur Art geht. Viele Grüße, Corinna

Comment: Hallo Aloinopsis, das ist einer der Zipfelkäfer, und zwar Anthocomus fasciatus. Danke für die Meldung. Viele Grüße, Corinna Nachträglich noch was zu Deiner Frage: Auf jeden Fall ist dieser Käfer völlig harmlos, falls Du Dir Sorgen um Holzbalken oder ähnliches machst. Er ernährt sich von Blütenpollen, seine Larven jagen andere Insektenlarven. Im Volksmund wird er aber auch "Fensterkäfer" genannt, weil man ihn tatsächlich häufig in Wohnungen oder Häusern innen an den Fenstern findet. Die Tiere überwintern nämlich gerne in Häusern und fliegen dann im Frühjahr in Richtung Licht -> Ab ans Fenster :). LG Corinna
