On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: 05.07.2019, 4 mm, Oulema gallaeciana dürfte das sein.
VG Hans
Species, family:
Oulema cf. gallaeciana
Chrysomelidae

Request: 30.06.2019
Found in woodland;
Found near Hochwald, Switzerland on 30 .06.2019;
47.450507° N 7.625103° E;
Height 620 m; length ca. 2 cm
Specimen was high up in elderflowers (Sambucus nigra) making top-down photo impossible. Is this Phymatodes pusillus?
Species, family:
Tetropium sp.
Cerambycidae
Comment: Hi Ed, in this case I can just assume the family Chrysomelidae. This beetle has given us quite some headache and finally remains unsolved. It is not P. pusillus, because the eye does not reach around the base of the antenna. It reminds me of Donaciinae, but the elytra do not show any puncture. This beetle remains a mystery. Best regards, Christoph The internal discussion about this specimen went on, and thanks to Corinna and Holger I think we found (at least a partial) solution: It should be - against initial doubt - a longhorn beetle, namely from genus Tetropium, propoably T. castaneum. Best regards, Christoph

LG Chris
