View answered requests for beetle ID
|
On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: Hello. Thank you for an ID. 14.7.2014, Slovakia, 200m a.s.l. size ca. 9mm. Plant: possibly Artemisia L.
Regards, Karol.
Species, family:
Chrysolina sanguinolenta
Chrysomelidae
Comment: Hi Karol, I worked though the FHL key and I think this should be Chrysolina sanguinolenta, which lives on Linaria. A second opinion from the team is advised. Best regards, Christoph I agree with Christoph. Similar species can be excluded (C. kuesteri with punctated pronotum, C. gypsophilae with more pronounced anterior corners of pronotum, both species with stronger punctation of the elytra than here). Usually on Linaria, and that's what the leaves suggest. Remotely similar species develop on Artemisia, but those have ver different patterns of elytral punctation. Best regards, Michael

Species, family:
Longitarsus sp.

Comment: Hi Gert, there is an easy way to separate genus Psylliodes from all the others of subfamily Halticinae: Count the limbs of the antennae. Genus Psylliodes is the only one in Centraleurope showing only 10 limbs. All the others Show 11 limbs. This one is Longitarsus spec. Can't tell the exact species. Best regards, Klaas
