On this page you can find photos submitted by users. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case at least a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Comment: Hallo Kryp, ich halte auch den für Rhynchaenus testaceus, der etwas gehaart hat. Potentielle Verwechselungsarten sind calceatus (da ist aber min mal der Halsschild schwarz und ziemlich selten) und rufus (nix weißes Schildchen) und quercus (am Halsschild fiese abstehende Borsten und fetter). Found inside our apartment, at night (around 00:10). We live in the city centre.
We have never seen anything like this and were completely terrified... is it dangerous?

Comment: Hi PieterVeiga, and welcome to kerbtier.de! This is a female of the longhorn beetle Prionus coriarius, also called "the sawyer". Their larvae develop under the bark of deciduous and occasionally coniferous trees. The adults are nocturnal. The can fly and are attrachted by light. They are completely harmless, you can just bring the beetle outside and that's it. They can pinch with their mandibles, so handle with care. Thanks for submitting. Best regards, Christoph

Comment: Moin Cortmeyer, meiner Meinung nach Dermestes haemorrhoidalis. So lange es nur ein Tier ist, ist alles gut. Beobachte mal, ob weitere auftauchen, dann gibt es möglicherweise eine Quelle im haus. Ansonsten vermutlich durch das Licht angelockt in der Dunkelheit durchs offene Fenster rein gekommen.
