On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Ca.5mm. In natura eher "kupfern schillernd".

Species, family:
Phosphaenus hemipterus

Request: Catched in light trap. Quite big...
Species, family:
Curculio pellitus
Curculionidae
Comment: Hi Lucgast, it's a species of the genus Curculio, C. venosus or C. pellitus. For determination you have to look at the scutellum, but we can't see it in this picture. So I've enlarged the meta-thigh. The shape of tooth let me come to Curculio pellitus. But I Think, Michael should also look at this one. regards gernot I trust Gernot in his judgement, I have no experience with the shape of that tooth. Best regards, Michael

Request: in a forest, on a Thistle, the 03.07.2015 , in North of France, Clairmarais, size maybe around 10-12 mm ?
Species, family:
Lixus angustatus
Curculionidae
Comment: Hi Thomas, in this case I can just determine the genus Lixus in the family of Curculionidae. Perhaps Michael will see more if he looks at these pictures. Best regards, Gernot I think this is Lixus angustatus (nowadays L. pulverulentus). Best regards, Michael

Request: Hi, size 3-4mm, 5.7.2015, danke
Species, family:
Mogulones larvatus
Curculionidae
Comment: Hi cilko, this one belongs to the genus Mogulones. I'm not sure, but in my opinion it may be Mogulenes larvatus, butonly with "cf". Best regards, Gernot I would agree with Mogulones larvatus. Let's wait for Michael's final verdict ;-) LG, Christoph It does indeed look very much like Mogulones larvatus. The species develops on Pulmonaria, a plant of early spring. Beginning of July is probably very late for this species. Also, it looks rather brown to me (usually they are almost clearly cut black and white). Other details fit perfectly for M. larvatus, e.g. small black spot laterally on the otherwise white last sternite. The similar species M. andreae lacks this black spot, and has completely red tarsi ... So I guess you just found a late, brownish specimen of M. larvatus. Some more details about the area of observation would be very much welcome, by the way. Best regards, Michael

Request: Moinsen, am 1.7.2015 in Oppenweiler am Waldrand gesehen. Ist eine Bestimmung möglich? Herzlichen Dank! Liebe Grüße, Karin
Species, family:
Anthaxia cf. quadripunctata
Buprestidae

Species, family:

Species, family:
