View answered requests for beetle ID
|
On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Species, family:
Otiorhynchus sp.
Curculionidae

Species, family:
Amara sp.

Comment: Hi Inja, that's genus Amara of family Carabidae. To difficult to identify, but it is of Amara communis-aggregate, five or six species in this aggregate, that are really hard to identify and I don't think anyone can do by photo. Regards, Klaas

Request: 19.5.13, 750 m Altstädten Bayern auf Sumpfblättrigem Ampfer!
Species, family:
cf. Gastrophysa viridula
Chrysomelidae

Oedemera lurida ?
Species, family:
Oedemera sp.
Oedemeridae
Comment: Hi, that's Oedemera lurida-aggregate, but impossible to separate from Oedemera virescens. Because of the slightly fattened hindfemora I'm more into Oedemera lurida, but that is by far not for sure. Regards, klaas

Species, family:
Cicindela silvicola
Carabidae
Comment: Hi Inja, see the pubescence on the vertex. Together with the color pattern of the elytra this should be Cicindela silvicola. Mainly in the mountain range. Similar is C. hybrida, but without this pubescence and in the lowlands. Regards, Christoph

Species, family:
Protaetia morio
Scarabaeidae
Comment: Moin Maik, die Bestimmung ist richtig. Viele Grüße, Klaas

Buprestidae
Comment: Hi, that's Anthaxia quadripunctata-aggregate. Three species in this aggregate, that make it very difficult to identify the species. Regards, klaas

Request: Found yesterday (19/05/2013) in close neighbourhood of Szczyrk (South Poland), mixed forest in mountains. Very small and very fast. Only one photo and I know that it is impossible to det species, but maybe family ? Probably I had never met this family.
Species, family:
Barypeithes sp.
Curculionidae
Comment: Hi, that's a member of genus Barypeithes. It is a genus with a number of species and it is difficult to separate them, impossible by this photo. Most probably, because the hairs on the Elytra stick out, it is Barypeithes pellucida, but that's more a guess than anything else. Regards, Klaas
