View answered requests for beetle ID
|
On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Comment: Hi pepik, this is genus Hymenalia. In former times belonging to Family Alleculidae, nowadays subfamily Alleculinae, belonging to Family Tenebrionidae. Maybe it is Hymenalia rufipes, which is also occuring in Centraleuropa, but I guess it isn't. There are nine species of this genus occuring in Europe. Best regards, Klaas

Comment: Hi pepik, I can only tell the genus: Acinopus, Family Carabidae (Groundbeetles), subfamily Harpalinae. Those beetles are feed by all kind of seeds, mainly seeds of gras. That's why they do have this big head with its very strong muscles, for breaking seed capsules, best regards, Klaas
