View answered requests for beetle ID

On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Bild 1 + 2 2009, Bild 3 2011
Species, family:
Requests for species Cicindela hybrida  Requests for family Carabidae
Comment:

Hi Cilko, this is a representative of the flea beetles (subfamily Halticinae). They are pretty diverse and difficult to determine. Your specimen looks like genus Chaetocnema, but that is rather a guess than a determination, as the characteristic feature of the genus on the hind tibiae is not even visible. Not to mention what would be needed to determine to species level. Regards, Christoph

Hi Marek, there are two possibilities: Anthaxia podolica or A. fulgurans. The two species can be distinguished by the large and deep puncture towards the apex of the elytra, which is present in A. fulgurans and absent in A. podolica. Judging from your photos I would think it is A. podolica. The depicted specimen is a male. Very nice photos! Regards, Christoph   Hi, because the last limbs of the antennae of the male beetle of Anthaxia podolica are yellow coloured, this can only be the male beetle of Anthaxia fulgurans. Regards, Klaas
