On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Comment: Hallo Christoph, ich bin nicht sicher, man kann die Eindellung der Stirn schlecht erkennen. Sieht eher flach aus, aber vielleicht bilde ich mir das nur ein. Auf jeden Fall ist es ein Weibchen, sonst hätte der Käfer spitze Höcker vorne am Halsschild, aber weiter traue ich mich nicht :(. Ich hoffe aber noch auf eine zweite Meinung. Request: Und noch ein Scolytidae - bin mir nicht sicher ob es sich vielleicht sogar um die selbe Art handelt wie beim letzten. Im Waldrandbereich gibt es einiges an Totholz von Nadelbäumen, die dort inzwischen wieder fast gänzlich von Laubbäumen ersetzt wurden. 06.05.18 - Größe: 6mm. LG und Dank, Christoph

Comment: Hi treebeard, in this case I can just determine the genus Donus. The look ist not normal, the specimen looks kind of "inflated", like if there was some kind of osmotic dysregulation. But I'm not a beetle doctor, so my diagnosis should be handled with care. Best regards, Christoph
