The minute scavenger beetles (Latridiidae) are small to very small beetles, which feed on fungal spores. They are found in (mouldy) hay stacks, in leaf litter, on dry branches, but also synanthropic. Worldwide approx. 1050 species in 29 genera have been described, thereof 80 from Germany. Although latridiids are best known from the temperate regions of the world, the family is truly cosmopolitan with several genera widely introduced as stored product pests.
