The powder-post beetles (Lyctidae) are a very small family of small beetles, which are amongst the greatest pests of (tropical) hardwood. They attack lumber used for furniture, crating and hardwood floors among others. Worldwide approx. 60 species have been described. Nine species have been recorded from Germany, thereof six can be regarded as established in the German fauna.
