At the suggestion of our forum user Mariposa, I've just built a new feature into our inquiry modules: If someone refers to another query in the query text (in the form #361257, i.e. hash sign and ID number of the inquiry), then all modules will automatically recognize and link it. If you click on the link, both queries are displayed side by side in the search module, the linked and the triggering query. Just try it out with inqury #361257. Thanks to Mariposa for the suggestion and have fun with the new feature!

Good things come to those who wait! I just updated the red list classifications shown on kerbtier.de from their old status (1998) to the status of 2022. A lot has happened in the meantime, the classification of 40% of the species of the German fauna has been changed. You can see how in detail here (click the table!). Where we refer to RL classifications in manually created texts, e.g. in the request module, these are not updated and thus document the development to a certain degree. With regard to taxonomy we continue to stick to Fauna Germanica 1998. If errors have crept in during the changeover, please let us know via email or the contact form.

At the suggestion of our forum user Markus (thank you!), I have added a new feature to the family overview and the name search: If you display species for which no photo is available yet, you can now jump directly to the inquiry search module, if the species has already been requested there and photos are therefore available. Just try it out, the new link is below the text "No thumbnail available". Have fun with the new function!

Dear users, yesterday I revamped our static distribution maps, they are now available with a better graphic resolution. I made all map features user-selectable, i.e. grid, national and regional borders, rivers and now also the topography. The latter is not enabled by default. If you want to activate topography, please go to the main map module in mode "map static", check the toggle switches for the map features you want to see and then save your settings as a cookie with the save button on the right. This setting then affects all static map displays on kerbtier.de.

Dear users, I would like to draw your attention to our publication in which we published the data from the Oxythyrea funesta project carried out on kerbtier.de in 2019. A total of more than 300 users reported their finds, well over 1000 finds were reported. In the publication we present the project results and discuss the suitability of citizen science projects in biodiversity research. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all users who took part in the project!
