I have just published a new book review, namely for "Die wasserbewohnenden Käfer Sachsen-Anhalts" by Dietmar Spitzenberg, published by the State Office for Environmental Protection Saxony-Anhalt. Highly recommended for nature observers, who wish to deal more intensively with the aquatic and thus hidden living representatives of the Coleoptera!

At the request of our user Dietrich, I have just implemented (between all the ID work today) a new module: The altitudinal zonation module allows you to view the number of records of a species per elevation level (in 100-m-steps) and to compare it with further species. The module works exactly like the well-known phenogram module. You might like to try it out, e.g. with some of our Cicindela species. I hope you will enjoy the new module!

Today, after a long pause, I just uploaded a new topic page on kerbtier.de dealing with the cudweed tortoise beetle Cassida seladonia. Besides a description of their development, lifestyle and feeding behaviour, also the biotope where the species was discovered, is described. I thank the author of the topic page (text and photos), Tina Schulz, for her valuable contribution.

At the request of our user Gagamba, I have introduced a new feature to the family overview, all family views and to the module search by name: Up to now, only families and species with available photo were shown. Now, all families and species can be shown, which allows for a better systematic overview of families, genera and species. One example with the search module: Show all species of genus Bembidion. If no photo is available, a place holder is displayed. Preferences can be saved in a cookie. Default setting is the previous view "only species with available photo".

Furthermore, I took out the paint bucket and worked a bit on our accent colors: All filter and most edit functionalities have changed their former orange color for rosedust, which goes nicely with the dominant green and the blue of the map functionalities as a triadic color scheme.
