On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: Greggenhofen bei Rettenberg i. Allgäu auf Brennnessel ca. 4 mm großer Rüßler ? Deporaus sp. 740m 16.4.14
Species, family:
Deporaus betulae
Rhynchitidae

Request: Hi, size 10-12mm, Cantharis obscura? Cantharis paradoxa? 12.4.2014, Slovakia,
Species, family:
Cantharis obscura/paradoxa
Cantharidae
Comment: Hi Cilko, the two species can be distinguished on the photo only on the shape of the pronotum, but from this perspective I can't. A secure separation can only be achieved with a genital-preparation. Both species are present in Slovakia. regards gernot

LG, Christoph

Request: Is it possible to identify this Tenebrionidae? It was found in International Tagus Natural Park (Portugal), 11.04.2014
Species, family:
Dendarus sp.
Tenebrionidae
Comment: Hi Ana, this is a representative of genus Dendarus. I can't tell which of the 54 species occuring in Europe. Dendarus coarcticollis (former Dendarus tristis) seems to be the most common, but I guess this one is not. Sorry for not getting down to the species. Best regards, klaas

Species, family:

Comment: Hi Ana, this is a representative of genus Polyphylla. I'm sorry, but I couldn't find any checklist of Portugal or something similar to get to the species, but I guess it shouldn't be to problematic to identify this one if you find a checklist. Best regards, Klaas
