View answered requests for beetle ID
|
On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: I have some problem with this beetle. I know that it is not a Rhantus exsoletus. But I can not determine which Rhantus is it. Maybe it is not Rhantus ?
Species, family:
Rhantus sp.
Dytiscidae
Comment: Good morning Inja, it is usual to have problems by identifying genus Rhantus. It is everything but easy to identify, especially on a photo. We don't get to point with this one, also you did a lot of effort and showed photos of important parts. It seems that the bottom side shows a complete yellowish colouring, what would make it a R. exsoletus or R. latitans. But the Pronotum does not show any of these. The Pronotum seems to show R. suturellus (can't see it exactely, because of the reflections left side basis and the "darkness" right side basis), but the bottom side isn't. I could identify on the beetle, but I'm sorry for not being able to get it here by photos. Best regards, Klaas

Request: I wonder if it is possible to identify this Anthaxia species by photo.Found in Babice nad Svitavou (South Moravia, Czech Republic) on a clearing in an oak forest about 450 m a.s.l. on 23.05.2014. Size about 6 mm.
Species, family:
Anthaxia salicis
Buprestidae
Comment: Hi Mirax, this should be Anthaxia salicis. Northwest Africa, Iberian Peninsula, Central Europe to the Caucasus and Asia minor. Development under the bark of dry oak wood. Adults on wood and on blossoms. There are very similar species like A. semicuprea and A. suzannae, but they can be excluded here. Regards, Christoph

LG, Christoph
