View answered requests for beetle ID

On this page you can find photos submitted by users. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case at least a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.
Requests to the kerbtier.de ID team can be submitted on the request page. The answered requests are published here shortly (currently 2 hours on average) after submitting.

majo 2019-05-24 15:49
Country, date (discovery):
Slovakia
2019-05-24
Request: 24.05.2019, found in Javorie Mts., Pustý hrad, Slovakia, 350 masl., forest, approx 5-6 mm. Please identify. Marián
Species, family:
Chrysolina sp.
Chrysomelidae
Comment: Hi majo, I guess Slovakia is to far North for one of the similar species of the mediterranean area. So Chrysolina hyperici in a black or blue form (hard to see on the photos). Best regards, Klaas The punctation of pronotum and elytra does not fit Chrysolina hyperici. We should see at least some geminated (twin) punctated stria on the elytra. But those here look rather simple like in Chrysolina oricalcia and the like. However all these species have quite some variation and for me it is not completely clear which one it is, so I will only got to Chrysolina sp. Sorry Holger I have my doubts regarding hyperici too, but I can't give any certain ID in this case, sorry. Best regards, Christoph
