On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Comment: Moin Pristus, hier kommen wir leider nicht bis auf die Art. Es gibt drei verschiedene Arten, die grundsätzlich erst mal so aussehen wie das Tier auf Deinem Foto. Eine der Arten kann man sicher über die Unterseite bestimmen, da die letzten Segmente des Abdomens rötlich gefärbt sind. Die beiden anderen gehen nur über das Genital. Viele Grüße, Klaas

Request: Oryzaephilus mercator ("Erdnussplattkäfer", "merchant grain beetle"), 01.10.2018, Senegal südlich von Dakar, in lokal gekauften (Trocken-)Datteln. (Zahn am Hinterschenkel, daher wohl ein Männchen?) -
Entdeckt, erkannt und gleich erinnert worauf es ankommt: Schläfe kürzer als halber Augendurchmesser, also nicht surinamensis (siehe meine Meldung #71790).
Der Dattelspaß war verdorben, die Käferfreude groß :-)
