Request: Funddatum: 18.08.2019; Fundort: Auf Weidenbaum in der Nähe des Elbsees, einem Moorsee im Ostallgäu, 740 m üNN; Art: Cryptocephalus sp oder Phatora sp; ich habe diesen Käfer für den Standort schon dokumentiert, aber ich fand die Tätigkeit des Tieres ganz interessant: „Erleichtert“ es sich nur oder legt es ein Eipaket ab?

Comment: Hallo coldvalley, das ist ein Weibchen von Cryptocephalus parvulus bei der für die Gattung typischen Eiablage. Die Eier werden vor dem eigentlichen Ablegen mit einem Schutzsekret ummantelt, das oft auch Kot und Pflanzenteile enthält. Zu diesem Zweck haben die Käfer eine Vertiefung am Hinterleib, den "Eimörser", in dem die Eier unter Zuhilfenahme der Hinterbeine umwickelt werden - schön zu sehen in Fotos B und C. Das Sekret wird vorher in einer speziellen Vorrichtung im Enddarm produziert, der so genannten "Kotpresse". Diese besitzen die Arten der Gattung Cryptocephalus, aber auch noch einige weitere nähere Verwandte innerhalb der Blattkäferfamilie. Übrigens hattest Du den bisher noch nicht, das war ein anderer Cryptocephalus damals. Also Glückwunsch und danke für die Meldung. Viele Grüße, Corinna
