On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Comment: Hi WilliamH, and welcome to kerbtier.de! This is a representative of the fungus weevils (Anthribidae). With the conspicuous stalked eyes I think it is a male from genus Exechesops, which I can't determine to species level. Exechesops contains more the 50 species, mostly in East and Southeast Asia, a few in Africa. Rheinheimer's checklist ("Illustrierter Katalog und Bibliographie der Anthribidae der Welt (Insecta: Coleoptera)") lists E. clivinus, coomani and leucopis for Vietnam. My recommendation would be to secure a few specimen and to make them available to an expert of family Anthribidae for determination and documentation. Best regards, Christoph
