Request: sunny
Species, family:
Cetonia aurata
Scarabaeidae
Comment: Hi Vandeput, this is unmistakably a cetoniid, namely the rose chafer Cetonia aurata. The globular prosternal apophysis distinguishes the genus from the similar genus Protaetia, which exhibits a flattened, saddle-shaped prosternal apophysis. From Europe to Siberia and Northern China. The larvae develop in decaying wood, the adults can be found on blossoms from April to October, with a peak in May. Regards, Christoph

An Johanniskraut (Hypericum). In Europa weit verbreitet. LG, Christoph

In Mitteleuropa. LG, Christoph

Eventuell könnte Thomas noch was dazu sagen. LG, Christoph

Species, family:
Ctenicera cuprea
Elateridae
Comment: Hi Inja, this should be a male of Ctenicera cuprea. The 3rd segment of the antenna is not pectinate, and the length of the lamella of segments 4 to 11 is barely longer than the length of the segment base. Regards, Christoph

Request: Bitte um Bestimmung diesen 6 mm großen Kurzflügler vom 22.09.12, könnte Stenus bimaculatus passen. Danke und Gruß, Karl
Species, family:
Stenus bimaculatus
Staphylinidae
Dazu 6 mm lang, da bleibt nichts anderes übrig. LG, Christoph

Request: Hi, size 10mm, 25.9.2012, Slovakia
Species, family:
Platydracus cf. latebricola
Staphylinidae
Comment: Hi Cilko, I think this is Platydracus latebricola, given the body length and the small eyes, which are especially well visible in photo B (in comparison to the length of the temple). Some (but not too much) residual uncertainty remains. Regards, Christoph

Species, family:
Anomala dubia
Scarabaeidae

Ingrid
Species, family:
Dorytomus melanophthalmus
Curculionidae
Viele Grüße, Klaas Darf so stehenbleiben. LG, Christoph
