On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: recht großer Blattkäfer ca. 6mm Feuchtwiese/Waldrand
6. August 2014
vielen Dank
Species, family:
Oreina sp.
Chrysomelidae

Request: Hello. Thank you for an ID. Found: 19.5.2014, Slovakia, Kosice, 200m a.s.l. Regards, Karol.
Species, family:
Paederus fuscipes
Staphylinidae
Comment: Hi Karol, working through the key of European species I think this is Paederus fuscipes, based on the very long elytra (compared to the length of the pronotum), the shape of the pronotum and the coloration of the tibiae. Best regards, Christoph - PS: Compare your inquiry #13423. Regards, Christoph

Request: Hello. Thank you for an ID. Found: 19.5.2014, Slovakia, Kosice, 200m a.s.l. Regards, Karol.
Species, family:
Paederus schoenherri
Staphylinidae
Comment: Hi Karol, the elytra are shorter than the pronotum and they are bradening from the base towards the apex. Together with the coloration of the legs and the long antenna I think it should be Paederus schoenherri. A tiny residual uncertainty remains. Regards, Christoph

Request: Hi, size 5-6mm, island Rab, Croatia, 14.7.2014
Species, family:
Clytrini sp.
Chrysomelidae
Comment: Hi Cilko, this specimen belongs to the tribe Clytrini within family Chrysomelidae. No chance for me to determine this specimen from the Croatian fauna by photo. This tribe becomes quite speciose in Southeast Europe, e.g. Clytra, Coptocephala, Macrolenes or Tituboea. Best regards, Christoph

Request: Hi, size 23-25mm, island Rab, Croatia, 10.7.2014
Species, family:
Mylabris variabilis
Meloidae
Comment: Hi Cilko, I think this is Mylabris variabilis. There are more similar species present in Croatia, among other Mylabris pusilla, Hycleus polymorphus, but I hink we can exclude them here. Best regards, Christoph

Species, family:
Opatrum sabulosum
Tenebrionidae
Comment: Hi Cilko, I think this is Opatrum sabulosum. There is another Opatram species in Croatia, O. verrucosum, but in the latter the sculpture of the elytra is more rugose. Best regards, Christoph

Request: 08/06/2014 in Willisville Il.
Species, family:
Plectrodera scalator
Cerambycidae
Comment: Hi Jean, sorry, saw that "Il." just after sending my question. It would have been nice to get the information "found in the States (U.S.A.)". That makes it much easier for us to identify. This longhorn beetle, also called Cottonwood Borer, develops in cottonwood and other poplar trees. Its range is from the Atlantic coast to the Mississippi river basin and north to Manitoba (Canada). Best regards, Klaas
