On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Country, date (discovery):
Belgium

Request: Found in Diepenbeek, Belgium today 30-5-2020
I know it is a Donacia, but I'm not sure which?
Donacia bicolor?
Species, family:
Donacia simplex
Chrysomelidae
Comment: Hi KoTho, bicolor, actually bicolora, is bigger and more wide than yours, in relation more flattened. You would see in bicolora, because of the big number of impressions on the Elytra, that it appeares like a piece of steel sheet someone worked with a hammer on. I can't see any pale areas at the legs, which simplex usually shows. But I guess it is because of the ancle the photo was taken from. Those pale parts often can be a tiny little bit of the Femora, close to the Trochanter, hidden under its body.Everything tells this is Donacia simplex. Best regards, Klaas

gefunden an Kiesgrube mit Seggenbestand, Donacia simplex?

Datum: 21.05.2020

Species, family:
Donacia thalassina/impressa
Chrysomelidae
