On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: Hallo liebes Bestimmungsteam!

LG, Christoph

Request: in a forest, on an unknown Tree, the 31.05.2014 , in France, Clairmarais
Species, family:
Dorytomus taeniatus
Curculionidae
Comment: Hi Thomas, this is the very common weevil Dorytomus taeniatus which develops mainly on willow, but sometimes also on Aspen. Can be confused with D. dejeani which is larger and develops on various species of poplar. However, Photo C reveals that the proboscis is straight down to the insertion of the antennae, which is typical for D. taeniatus and allows for unequivocal identification. Best regards, Michael

Species, family:
Otiorhynchus sulcatus
Curculionidae
