View answered requests for beetle ID
|
On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: Hello, I was on holiday in La Palma Spain, one of the canary islands and saw a few beetles.
So I hope it's no problem to ask a few ID requests.
I did already a bit of resaerch and found a few names, I think.
This is the first one :
Agapanthia pannonica
Species, family:
Agapanthia suturalis
Cerambycidae
Comment: Hi verstraeten, there have been lots of changes in this genus in the recent years and some species are now thought to be synonyms only. On the Canary Islands, according to G. Sama, A. suturalis is present, see his paper in Boletín Sociedad Entomológica Aragonesa, No 42 (2008): 123–127. Best regards, Christoph

Request: Sorry if I already put this photo but I don't have now the ID. (Maybe 0,7 cm)
Species, family:
Phaleria cadaverina
Tenebrionidae
Comment: Hi MiguelBk, that's a genus of Family Tenebrionidae which occurs widespread in Europe, but in Germany for example only at the coastal Areas. 17 species seem to óccur in Europe and I can't tell the differences, so it is Phaleria spec. Best regards, klaas This is Phaleria cadaverina, some other species are quite impossible in their determination using pictures. Best regards, Thomas

Comment: Hello Bashdar. I would say it's Megopis (syn Aegosoma) scabricornis. But this needs to be checked by an other member of the admins. Cheers, Lukas Both Klaas and myself agree.
