View answered requests for beetle ID
|
On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

j. verstraeten 2020-09-07 23:04
Country, date (discovery):
Belgium

Request: I've found this one in an old stone quarry.
Length : Approx 12-13mm
Date : 07-09-2020
Location : Maasmechelen, Belgium
Best regards
Species, family:
Quedius sp.
Staphylinidae
Comment: Hi verstraeten, the beetle looks interesting but unfortunately I can only determine that it's a Quedius in the subgenus Raphirus. The indicated size seems too large, the only Raphirus species in Belgium of that size is Q. lateralis which this beetle definitely isn't. I'd need to see more details for a species ID, such as the pronotum and the puncture of the head. Sorry and best regards, Moritz
