On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

I was actually wondering what the difference is with the other similar species of Cryptocephalus. What I especially have to pay attention to when taking pictures to distinguish them.
This beetle has a length of approx. 7mm
Location : Lanklaar, Belgium

Comment: Hi verstraeten, in this case I can just determine the genus Cryptocephalus. In former times, aureolus and sericeus were separated by the s-curved side of the pronotum and the two depression at the base of the pronotum (left and right of the center line). Nowadays, mainly the prosternum is examined, see here (in German only). Unfortunately, this is very difficult to photograph in live specimens. Best regards, Christoph
