On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: Hallo ihr Lieben. Ich habe festgestellt: es gibt so dermaßen viele Käfer, dass einem bei einer Exkursion, bei der man eigentlich nur Lepis finden will, immer welche über den Weg laufen, seufz. An diesem kam ich leider auch nicht vorbei, und bei der Determination scheitere ich auch noch kläglich. Ich entdecke Ähnlichkeiten zu Bradybatus kellneri?? Danke, viele Grüße und gute Nacht! Request: Zusammen mit einem weiteren Exemplar fand ich den hier um ca. 10 Uhr auf einer toten, aber noch stehenden Pappel. Leider gelang es mir nicht, beide Tiere auf ein Bild zu bekommen. Ich gehe stark von Cucujus cinnaberinus aus. Oder ist haematodes anhand des Bildes nicht auszuschließen?

Comment: Hi Inja, there are two possible species, C. vibex and C. bergeali. By photo they can't be distinguished. They have different host plants (C. vibex on Carduus and Cirsium, C. bergeali on Centaurea). For determination, the aedoeagus of the male should be inspected. Regards, Christoph
