On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

LG, Christoph

Request: Oulema gallaeciana ? Place and time like before.
Species, family:
Oulema gallaeciana
Chrysomelidae
Comment: Hi Inja, confirmed as Oulema gallaeciana. Thanks for submitting. Best regards, Christoph - PS: "Place and time like before" does not help too much if I try to extract dates automatically. Also when searching later on, the context of inquiries in the vicinity is lost: Therefore: Please provide a properly formatted place and date of discovery (DD.MM.YYYY) with EVERY request. Thanks.

Request: Found 20.05. South Poland, sunny meadow. C. vibex on both photos ?
Species, family:
Cassida vibex/bergeali
Chrysomelidae
Comment: Hi Inja, there are two possible species, C. vibex and C. bergeali. By photo they can't be distinguished. They have different host plants (C. vibex on Carduus and Cirsium, C. bergeali on Centaurea). For determination, the aedoeagus of the male should be inspected. Regards, Christoph - PS: Photo B showed a different species, please submit it in a separate request.

Species, family:

LG, Christoph

Request: the weevil found on banana plant. in December 2014
Species, family:
Odoiporus longicollis
Curculionidae
Comment: Hi PALLAVI, without being an expert for the Indian fauna, I think this should be the banana stem weevil Odoiporus longicollis, regarded as a important pest in banana cultivation. You may like to have a look at this factsheet for further information. Best regards, Christoph

bronzefarbener Teekessel
Beste Grüße + thx
BUG
Species, family:
Ctenicera pectinicornis
Elateridae
LG, Christoph
