On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: 19.05.2015 Shaqlawa Kurdistan region 4mm
Species, family:
Hyperaspis syriaca
Coccinellidae
Comment: Hi Bashdar, I contacted the renowned coleopterist Dr. Fürsch who is an expert for ladybirds (Coccinellidae) of the Palaearctic and Afrotropic faunistic regions. He determined your specimen as a male Hyperaspis syriacus WEISE - but he told me there is some uncertainety remaining, as a secure determination is only possible with a closer look at the genitalia. However, he is quite sure, as he inspected the type specimen a few years ago which is located in Berlin/Germany. I hope I could help you! Thanks for submitting and best regards, Fabian
