On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: 2021-06-05 - So klein und soo hungrig! Bevor Christoph als Rentner den Carabus-larven ins Gesäß sehen wird (#271587), möchte er mir doch bitte sagen, ob die Larven direkt vom Wurm fressen oder ihn außerhalb verdauen. - Ein recht schönes Wochenende Ihnen allen und vielen Dank für Ihren Einsatz.
PS: Die Stelle im Garten war leider recht dunkel.

Comment: Hallo Nurso, hier geht es für mich leider nur bis zur Gattung Carabus. LG, Christoph - PS: Zu den Thema gibt's gar nicht so wenig Literatur. Viele Laufkäfer kauen und schlucken ihre Beute direkt, hingegen produzieren Vertreter der Carabini (Carabus, Calosoma) und Cicindelini Verdauungssäfte, die zumindest eine gewisse prä-orale Vorverdauung vornehmen.
