View answered requests for beetle ID

On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: Found on 18.05.2015 in Coral Bay (Peyia, Cyprus) on dry grass on a stony seashore. Size about 12 mm, presumably a female since it was laying eggs. I understand that Cyprus is far outside the Central Europe but perhaps you will be able to determine the genus if not species.
Species, family:
Labidostomis sp.
Chrysomelidae
Comment: Hi Mirax, it is a representative of genus Labidostomis. This genus tends to be tricky even with a specimen at hand. Hence I can't determine this specimen from Cyprus to species level. Best regards, Christoph

Request: 09.06.2015 Laufkäfer Mainzer Sand ca. 6 mm
Species, family:
Harpalus cf. dimidiatus
Carabidae
LG, Christoph

Request: 08.06.2015
location: Kurdistan region of Iraq.
host plant: oak tree (under the bark).
Species, family:
Acmaeodera crinita cf. abigail
Buprestidae
Comment: Hi karzan, Hans Mühle, one of the world leading specialists in Buprestidae identified this one as Acmaeodera crinita, too, like #28349. As he is not sure in #28349 being the ssp. abigail, it is the same with this one, too. Photos quality is not sufficient for this. Best regards, Klaas
