On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Comment: Hallo friedlof, herzlich willkommen auf kerbtier.de! Das ist wahrscheinlich Tenebrio molitor. Kulturfolger, lebt an stärkehaltigen Produkten, wie Mehl, Getreide, Backwaren, etc. und kann daran schädlich werden. Heute mehr im trockenen Kot der Stadttauben und anderen Vogel- oder Flugsäugerkot-Ansammlungen. Nachtaktiv und flugfähig, wird von Licht angelockt. Es gibt noch den ähnlichen T. obscurus, den ich an deinem Foto nicht mit letzter Sicherheit ausschließen kann. LG, Christoph

Comment: Hallo Käferliese, ja, das ist wahrscheinlich Melolontha melolontha. Leider sieht man das Hinterteil (Pygidium) nicht gut, welches das beste Unterscheidungsmerkmal zwischen dem Feldmaikäfer (M. melolontha) und dem Waldmaikäfer (M. hippocastani) ist. Viele Grüße, Daniel
