On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: (KI: Philonthus cognatus, 3%, Rang 3), Holzlagerplatz unter verpilzter Rinde mit Fruchtkörpern, 11.11.21, ca.8 mm, Flügeldecken mit schwachem metallischen (Messing)Glanz, Brustteil mit wenigen punktf. Eindrücken in zwei Reihen. Tier ständig in Bewegung, deshalb leider nur partiell scharfe Bilder möglich.

Comment: Hallo Haselmaus, herzlich willkommen auf kerbtier.de! Die Larven sind schwer zu sehen, könnten aber schon Silphidae-Larven sein. Allerdings würden diese die Haselmaus nicht angreifen/töten. Die erwachsenen Tier liegen Eier an bereits toten Tier an (sie werden vom Aasgeruch angelockt) und die Larven ernähren sich dann am Aas. LG, Christoph
