On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: 23.04.2022, Mainz, Feldweg an der Uni, in Weissdorn, Bruchus luteicornis?
Species, family:
Bruchus sp.
Bruchidae
LG, Christoph :)

Request: 22.4.2022 18mm, in einer Bananenkiste beim Rewe. Hing am Bio-Etikette fest. Bitte um Bestimmung. Besten Dank im Voraus. Exot also nicht ausgeschlossen.
Species, family:
Ligyrus cf. peruvianus
Scarabaeidae
Based on your photo, my best guesstimate would be Ligyrus peruvianus which occurs in the banana-growing and export region of Guayaquil in Ecuador. For a definitive ID, I would need to examine the form of the male genitalia.
Hope that helps a little. A piece of the tropics in Germany! Wonderful!". LG, Christoph - PS: Das nenn ich mal Einsatz! :)

Daher "varians". Danke für die Meldung. LG, Christoph ;)
