On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

photo 30-04-2013 Zutendaal, Belgium
Species, family:
Curculio cf. glandium

Comment: Hi verstraeten, I can't see any trace of setae at the apex of the elytra. That favors C. glandium. With a slight uncertainty. Best regards, Christoph

Species, family:
Curculio nucum

An Haselnußsträuchern. Larvenentwicklung in den Nüssen, Verpuppung im Boden. LG, Christoph

LG, Christoph

LG, Christoph

Request: Byrrhus pilula, Weiler, 1.5.2013
Species, family:
Byrrhus cf. pilula
Byrrhidae
Mal sehen was Klaas noch dazu sagt.

Vielen Dank. CH-Wattwil, 27.04.13
Species, family:
Ampedus sp.
Elateridae
Comment: Hallo Pia, der ist nicht einfach. Schwarze Behaarung von Halsschild und Fld., also entfallen A. cinnabarinus und wohl auch A. sanguinolentus. Halsschildmittelfurche fehlt, also auch kein A. sanguineus. Auch sonst will nichts im FHL-Schlüssel so richtig hinhauen. Ich bin ratlos. Co-Admins? LG, Christoph

Request: Elateridae found today in Bielsko-Biała, in Poland. Length: about 1,5cm.
Species, family:
Agriotes sp.
Elateridae
Comment: Hi Inja, this is an Agriotes species. With the broad build I would primarily think about A. obscurus, but literature (FHL) gives only 7.5 to 10 mm body length for this species. If it really was 15 mm, it is something else. Regards, Christoph

Phyllobius sp.

Comment: Hi Inja, I think this I another case of Phyllobius pyri/vespertinus we had many times over the last few days. This specimen is pretty much worn of. I don't dare to determine to species level. Regards, Christoph

Species, family:
Donus sp.

Comment: Hi Inja, might be another Donus species. I struggled quite a bit with the weevil requests today. For Donus in Poland, it would be the best to consult a local expert presenting a specimen. Regards, Christoph

Request: Hi, size 7-8mm, 1.5.2013, Slovakia
Species, family:
Phyllobius pyri
Curculionidae
Comment: Hi Cilko, with 7-8 mm this should be Phyllobius pyri. A common species during spring, in bushes and blossoming trees. There is a smaller sister specier, P. vespertinus (5-6 mm), which can be easily confused. Regards, Christoph

Request: Sitzt im Wohnzimmer unter der Decke. Gerade in Hannover gefunden
Species, family:
Phymatodes testaceus
Cerambycidae
Comment: Hallo Zxr900, der gehört zu den Bockkäfern. Es handelt sich um Phymatodes testaceus. In Europa, Kleinasien, Kaukasus, Nordafrika.
LG, Christoph
