On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Comment: Hallo hjr, an dem habe ich eine Zeit lang rumgeknobelt, bin aber nicht wirklich weit gekommen. Die Streifen werden nach hinten tiefer, ein Scutellarporenpunkt scheint aber nicht da zu sein. Wie stark der Halsschild punktiert ist, sieht man leider nicht richtig, kurzum - es geht hier für mich leider nur bis zur Gattung Amara. Viele Grüße, Jürgen

Vor ein paar Jahren habe ich mal Dutzende Amaras in Knoblauchsrauke gesehen. Scheint eine Spezialität von denen zu sein.

Comment: Hi Lucy, welcome to kerbtier.de! This beetle belongs to the genus Melolontha. Unfortunately, there are two species in Germany and they are distinguished by the shape of the pygidium at the beetle's rear end, which is invisible here. So I have to leave that one on genus level. Best regards, Juergen - PS: Currently, they are swarming around everywhere and can get in houses. It doesn't do any harm, however, you can just put it outdoors.
