On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: Liebes Käferteam ein Marienkäfer ca. 7 mm aus Namibia, 22.06.2022 20 km südöstlich Windhuk. In der sehr kalten Nach - 10°, um 12 Uhr waren die Kerle jedoch putzmunter auf einer Aloe, haben wohl einen Frostschutz. Geht mir weniger um die Bestimmung, ich möchte Euch den schönen Käfer zeigen. Comment: Hallo JeBe, das ist Cheilomenes lunata. Neckisch. Den Frostschutz haben sie bestimmt, den haben die bei uns überwinternden Arten auch, sie reichern z.B. Glycerin in ihrer Hämolymphe, andere produzieren Polysaccharide. LG, Christoph
