View answered requests for beetle ID
|
On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: 10.11.2014 kurdistan Region north Iraq on poplar
Species, family:
Exochomus cf. quadripustulatus
Coccinellidae
Comment: Dear Bashdar, this one created quite some headache in our team. The color pattern reminds me of Adalia bipunctata, but the rounded shape of the beetle does not fit too well to this assumption. On the other hand, I don't find a species in tribe Chilocorini that has a matching color pattern. In short: We're not sure what it really is, and therefore have to leave it with Coccinellidae sp. Best regards, Christoph Hi Bashdar, Dr. Fürsch determined your specimen as Exochomus cf. quadripustulatus - with some uncertainty left. Best, Fabian

Despite my sincerest efforts I was not able to determine genus or species, although the coloration is quite conspicuous and characteristic.
