Request: 08.05.2023 am Wanderweg im Katinger Watt. Da beide Arten schon für dieses MTB gemeldet sind, melde ich Pyrochroa serraticornis 'zu Pferd' auf Meloe sp. (proscarabaeus) nur deshalb, weil ich so etwas bisher noch nie gesehen habe. Der Ölkäfer lief für seine Verhältnisse sehr schnell und ihm schien der Ritt gar nicht zu gefallen. Ist dieses Verhalten schon gut dokumentiert? Besten Dank und schöne Grüße

Comment: Hallo Kakipete, bestätigt als Pyrochroa serraticornis. Nice, was Du da dokumentiert hast, ist die sog. Canthariphilie: Zahlreiche Insekten-Arten (z.B. auch Gnitzen) naschen gern von der cantharidin-haltigen Hämolymphe der Ölkäfer. Dadurch werden sie selbst toxisch für Fressfeine und können diesen Schutz auch ihren eigenen Gelegen mitgeben. Danke für die Meldung. LG, Christoph

Request: 7.5.2023, Toggenburg, Mosnang, in Wiese auf Grashalm. Mein Mann hat leider den die Käfer nicht zusätzlich von oben her aufgenommen. Kann man anhand der Tarsen auf eine Art schliessen? Ich vermute Chrysolina coerulans, da auch Grösse passen würde mit ca. 7-9mm. Vielen Dank für Eure Meinung.
