Während die Weibchen von Stenoria analis dabei sind Eier zu legen, begeben sich die Männchen bei optimalem Flugwetter (windstill und warm) auf die Suche nach paarungsbereiten Weibchen. Da die fehlen, fliegen sie alles an, was nur irgendwie nach Weibchen reicht. 40 bis 50 Männchen fliegen mir um den Kopf herum. Die besonders liebeshungrigen Männchen landen in meinem Gesicht und versuchen, in Nase und Mund einzudringen. Die Käfer verströmen einen Eigengeruch, der an zerriebene Möhrenblätter erinnert. Die Krabbelei kitzelt ziemlich.
