On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Comment: Hallo Mr. Pampa, bestätigt als Curculio villosus. Die Larve entwickelt sich an Eichen in den Gallen der Gallwespe Biorhiza pallida, Verpuppung im Boden, die Käfer schlüpfen im Frühjahr. Danke für die Meldung. lg, Gernot

Request: Found in Babice nad Svitavou (Moravian Karst, approx. 470 m a.s.l.)on a walking path separating forest from a horse pasture on 09.05.2016. Size about 35 mm. Very quick creature, difficult to photograph its whole body, hiding under small stones all the time.

Request: 07.05.2016 - Curculionidae! Geschätzte 11-12 mm gross. Vor Ort dachte ich an einen Liophloeus tessulatus, den Ihr mir schon einmal bestimmt habt. Am Bildschirm scheinen mir die Fühler seitlich aus "Längskerben" zukommen. Müsste ich ihn dann bei den Polydrususarten suchen? Ich bin grad völlig verwirrt! Aargau, Oberfrick in Krautschicht am Wegrand auf ca. 370 m üNN. Danke vielmals für Eure geduldigen Lektionen! LG Chris

Comment: Hallo Jürgen, von der Flügeldeckenmakel her ist das für mich ein eindeutiger C. hybrida. Die Art kommt mit an Sicherheit grenzender Wahrscheinlichkeit überall dort vor, wo auch C. maritima zu finden ist. Letzterer bewegt sich aber fast immer direkt an der Wasserlinie entlang, während C. hybrida auch weiter landeinwärts zu finden ist. Comment: Hallo Hubi, ja, hier geht es leider nur bis zur Gattung Melanotus. Ohne Foto von der Unterseite haben wir nicht mal 'ne Chance, wenigstens M. brunnipes abzutrennen. Die beiden anderen, M. castanipes und M. rufipes, kriegt man ohnehin nur am Genital getrennt. LG, Christoph
