On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: I found this weevil of just under 7mm on a concrete road near a humid forest in Elsloo, in the northern part of the Netherlands on 23.08.2016. Can you help me with this one?
Species, family:
Curculio venosus
Curculionidae
Comment: Hi Leon, this should be Curculio venosus. This species and its close relative C. pellitus live on oak trees. The scutellum in both species is elongated and narrow and bot have some erected spiky scales at the seam of the back end of the elytra. But venosus have more of those and that makes me tend to venosus. The best way to distinguish is the form of the thorn at the front limbs but that is not visible in your pictures. Therefore some uncertainty remains. Best regards, Holger

Request: Hallo,

Request: Guten Morgen allerseits,
