View answered requests for beetle ID
|
On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: Caught this 2.8 mm long beetle on light on 26.08.2016 in Boijl in the Northern part of the Netherlands. Thought it was an unmarked Coccinellidae when I caught it, but there seems to be no fitting specie.

Request: Caught on light in Boijl, northern part of the Netherlands on 26.08.2016. It's 3.5 mm long, but I can't find a suiting family. Can you help me?
Species, family:
Cercyon laminatus
Hydrophilidae
Comment: Hi Leon, this is Cercyon laminatus. Theses guys are not that easy and that one is a least a member of a genus which can be foto identified. It is originated in east asia e.g. Japan and appeared in the 1950s in Europe. Often found flying to light or in its habitat in decaying plants or dung. Best regards, Holger

Request: Hallo,
