View answered requests for beetle ID
|
On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: 27.12.2016 Fischen Bauhof Holzlager Laubbaumrinde mit Frasgänge.
Species, family:
Scolytidae sp.
Scolytidae

Best regards
Species, family:

Comment: Hi verstraeten, I'm not really sure about vulgatissima, so in this case I better just confirm the genus Phratora. Best regards, Christoph

Request: 2016/08/06: August, in my garden, I found this one in a bucket of water. It seemed quite helpless, so I took a leaf and fished it out of the water. I'm not sure if these are larves but I marked them as such. Can we tell from them if the adult is a male/female? The size must have been almost 1cm. If I have the size right and it is an Histeridae then it might be Hister unicolor? I'm only guessing here. Frohe Weihnachten!
Species, family:
Hister sp.
Histeridae
Comment: Hi Wouter, family Histeridae is right for sure. But telling by the Foto if it is genus Hister or Margarinotus is quite difficult and by These photos I'm unable to tell which of them. I could have told if it is Hister unicolor by a view straight from above. The ones you think are larvae, it is only mites, using the beetle like a bus without paying. Best regards and merry Christmas, Klaas
