View answered requests for beetle ID
|
On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Species, family:
cf. Latridiidae sp.

Comment: This is some kind of Latridiidae. Those beetle life of funghus, most of all mould. That just means that some dead parts of the trees are mouldering and so those beetle find their basis to life in your trees.

Request: Hallo Bestimmungsteam. Welche Carabidae könnte das sein? Der Käfer ist abends mit Licht gefangen. Grösse: 7,5mm. Fundort: Gulpen (Niederlande)(17-07-2013). Vielen Dank im voraus, Grüsse Hubert.
Species, family:
Ophonus sp.
Carabidae

Request: Hi, our local oak trees are dying - i collected beetle sample to see who the players are - this one is 3.5mm long and 1.2mm wide, thank you, dean
Species, family:
cf. Tomicus sp.
Scolytidae
Comment: Like #6725 this is a member of family Scolytidae. Together with #6725 they will give your trees very much harm. But this one also is a secondary pest. regards, Klaas

Species, family:
cf. Xyleborus sp.
Scolytidae
Comment: Hi Bekaru, this is a species of family Scolytidae, some kind of genus Xyleborus. I guess your trees might die, because of this one. But only if this beetle is occuring in masses. Fact is that those beetles are secondary pest and can only attack your trees in masses, because something else damaging it first. Regards, klaas

Tolles bild. Viele Grüße, Klaas

Request: Found yesterday in Bielsko-Biala (South Poland). Is that Strangalia attenuata ?
Species, family:
Leptura maculata
Cerambycidae
Comment: Hi Inja, no, it is the very common Rutpela maculata, former Leptura maculata, former Strangalia maculata. This species is a bit lighter yellow coloured, a bit bigger and less slim of habit than Strangalia attenuata. Regards, klaas

Request: Found yesterday in Bielsko-Biala (South Poland).
Species, family:
Anthaxia cf. quadripunctata
Buprestidae
Comment: Hi Inja, most probably it is Anthaxia quadripunctata, but it can be very easily confused with A. godeti. So only A. cf. quadripunctata. Regards, Klaas

Request: Bei mir im Garten in Wiesbaden im Juni 2012 gefunden.
Ist das ein Dorcus parallelipipedus? Habe gestern wieder einen gesehen.
Species, family:
Lucanus cervus
Lucanidae
